I saw him walk toward me in all his glory.
An undeniable presence.
Everything that a knight in shining armor should look like.
He was smiling.
I was floored.
I felt nothing. At least nothing recognizable.
I was frozen as my mind tried to catch up with my eyes,
hastily trying to process that he was right there.
Right before me.
Finally. The gulf had closed.
(Disbelief. I remember feeling disbelief.)
I searched for his eyes to find mine.
To find some recognition.
Some sliver of something that would say “yes this is real.
You are not crazy.”
But he didn’t look down.
He never does.
